Uncaging Flashes
ASI offers the Rapp OptoElectronic Flash Unit, a pulsed light source which produces an intense flash of UV light for the photolysis of caged compounds in the specimen plane of a microscope. A single shot delivers more than 1016 photons to the uncaging area. The light is coupled to the microscope via specially designed epifluorescence condensers and a solid quartz fiber. The specially designed condensers are available for most microscopes, and provide for preselection of the uncaging area via a set of adjustable slits.
