Most ASI controllers can be firmware upgraded via their serial connection, however, MS-2000 controllers with firmware prior to version 8.0 cannot be upgraded with this procedure. Check that the model number on the label contains the letters “WK” to verify that your controller can be upgraded.
Step 1: Connect the ASI product to your computer. Use either the Serial Null Modem cable provided with your ASI product, or use a USB-Serial adapter cable such as a Keyspan High Speed USB Serial Adapter.
Note that if this is the first time you have used the Keyspan USB Serial Adapter or equivalent product, you will need to install driver software furnished by the adapter manufacturer

Step 2: Turn on your ASI product and use the Port Name drop-down list to select which COM port you are using for this operation.
If you are using a USB-Serial adapter, its port name is probably the highest numbered COM port. It will only appear in the list if your ASI product is turned on.
This list only displays names of ports not in use by other applications. If your port is not listed, ensure that no other application is using the port and try again.
Step 3: Use the Product drop-down list to select which product’s firmware you wish to update.
Step 4: Use the Open… button or the File/Open menu item. Select a file with suffix .HEX or .H01.
This file or set of files was furnished for you by ASI. If you recieved files with the suffixes .H01, .H02, and .H03, ensure that all three files are in the same folder on your computer.
Step 5: Click the Program button. The following dialog appears:

Step 6: Click yes and turn on the ASI product. The following dialog appears, displaying a rapidly moving counter at the bottom. This display means that the computer is trying to connect to the ASI product. This will continue for five seconds.

If you see the following dialog, check cable and power connections. For the MS-2000, press the Reset button on the back panel below the power switch. For the other ASI products, turn the unit off and on again.

You will see the “Loading firmware” status message as shown and the progress bar will move until the operation is done.

When the operation is done, turn off the ASI product, turn it on again. It is now ready to operate with the new firmware.
ASI provides the installation software in two forms: a web-based package that checks for updates each time you launch the application, and a zip file containing the installation software for the current version.
Updater5 is made to run under the .NET Framework Version 2.0. The .NET Framework is built into Windows XP and later. The .NET Framework must be installed on computers running earlier versions of Windows.
