SC-2000 Firmware Update Files

Instructions

The following steps allow the firmware of an SC-2000 Shutter Controller to be updated by the user using their PC computer.

NOTE: These steps must be followed in exact order and in its entirety. Failure to follow these steps will leave your unit in an unrecoverable state. Please insure you have read all the instructions and have all the required files before attempting this procedure.

1. Using a terminal program (e.g., Microsoft^® HyperTerminal), send the SC-2000's "v" (version) query command to your controller.
2. Insure your existing firmware version number is older than the newest downloadable version offered below.
3. If you have not previously set up the ASI Updater program:
   1. Download the ASIUpdater.zip compressed file, below.
   2. Unzip this file in an empty folder that you have chosen.
   3. Verify the following files exist:
   • ASIUpdater.exe - 45KB
   • COMDLG32.OCX - 137KB
   • MSCOMCT2.OCX - 633KB
   • MSCOMCTL.OCX - 1,042KB
   • MSCOMM32.OCX - 102KB
   • Readme.txt - 3KB
4. Download the current version of the SC2000.HEX file, below. You may want to put it in the same folder as the ASIUpdater files.
5. Last chance - confirm you are ready. The following steps are irrevocable.
6. Using your terminal program, send the undocumented command, uPdAtE followed by a carriage return <CR>, to your SC-2000 controller.
7. Turn off your SC-2000 controller, wait ten seconds, then turn it back on.
8. You may verify that you no longer have software control.
9. Exit your terminal program.
10. Launch the ASIUpdater.exe program (from step 3, above).
11. Select the newly-downloaded SC2000.HEX file (from step 4, above).
12. Select the appropriate "Com" port.
13. Click "Connect"
• If you receive a "Port already open" message, close your terminal program and any other program that may have the COM port held open, then click "Connect" again.
• If you receive a "Connection Failed" message, insure that you have a null-modem serial cable properly connected between your equipment, and click "Connect" again.
14. Click "Download"
• If accidently disconnected during transfer, turn off the controller and start again from step 10.
15. After the transmission has successfully completed, click "Reset" and close ASI Updater.
16. Turn off your SC-2000 controller, wait ten seconds, then turn it back on.
17. Verify that you have software control again, and are running the new version.

NOTE:   If your browser displays the SC2000.HEX file instead of downloading it, do a File/SaveAs, and store it in your desired folder.  Or Right-Click on the above link and choose "Save Target As..." Rename it to SC2000.HEX, if necessary.
