3D/4D Stage

ASI’s 3D/4D stage is a motorized precise motion control system for moving a sample around fixed optics. In addition to the linear motion of X, Y, and Z axes, an optional rotating stage is employed for a theta axis. The linear stages comprising the XYZ elements have maximum travel options of 25, 50, or 100 mm. They derive smooth and accurate motion from closed-loop DC servomotors, crossed-roller bearings, high-precision lead screws, and high-resolution encoders for positioning feedback. Like ASI’s other stages they can move at extremely uniform slow speeds for in-motion continuous acquisition. The optional theta axis is ASI’s rotating C-mount adapter with encoder resolution of <0.01 degree and movement up to 8 degrees/sec. The elements are rigidly attached together, and usually mounted to a breadboard via an adapter plate.

ASI’s controllers provide automatic backlash correction, and can communicate with a host computer by RS-232 or USB connection.
