Swapping Lids on the MS-2000

(WARNING: You should be familiar with the MS/MFC-2000 manual before attempting the lid swapping)

STEP 1: Turn off the power and remove all cables attached to the controller.

STEP 2: Remove the six case screws located on the back top and bottom front of the controller, (to avoid stripping screws when removing bottom screws, apply pressure to keep the top and bottom covers together while removing/inserting screws).

STEP 3: Remove the White Top lid from the Blue Case bottom. (Note: on older units a flat screwdriver may be required to pry the lid off by placing the screwdriver under the white lid at the corners on the top.)

STEP 4: Unplug the LCD ribbon cable from SV-9 on the Motherboard, (Right Corner), and unplug the COVER Joystick ribbon cable from SV-13, and remove the lid ground connector from the tab next to the two headers. This will get the white top out of your way.

STEP 5: Get the new lid and find the same connections that were removed in step 4. They are labeled below. The connectors can be reattached to the case bottom in reverse order as in step 4.

STEP 6: Next, check to see that all the wires are routed away from the joystick and that the case is clean and clear of foreign debris, (screws, washers, etc.). The lid can now be screwed back on with the six 4-40 screws in reverse order of step 2. Next, shake the case to make sure that nothing is rattling around inside the case.

STEP 7: Now test the function of the joystick, the buttons, the LCD display, LCD backlight, and the engage/disengage switch if one is present and is set to a function. If all of the functions of the lid work then re-package the old lid for return to ASI.
