ASI's shutter housings provide a simple means of controlling light in both the UV and
white light paths. The housings accept either normally open or normally closed Uniblitz
shutters, which are sold separately, and mount in between the illuminator housing and
microscope using the original microscope manufacturer's mounting design. The small design,
21.6mm thick, of ASI's housings results in minimal extension of the light path. ASI's
shutters are encased in special housings that ASI has designed. These housings, like the
one shown here, are precisely machined to be inserted between the microscope's light
source and the microscope. The housings have been specifically designed to prolong the
life of the shutters by dissipating heat. ASI shutter housings are available for most
microscopes and are as easy to install as the original light source. For added
illumination control, a manual iris can also be installed in the shutter housing.
Camera Focusing Shutter Housing
The camera focusing shutter housing utilitizes ASI's thin shutter housings with an
adjustable video tube to c-mount adapter for focusing the camera. The shutter housing is
useful in preventing sensitive intensifiers and intensified video cameras from damage and
diminished life. The focusing mechanism is recessed within the shutter housing and the
overall space that is added to the return light path is less than 27mm.
